Testimonials

The following are a very few of the testimonials that have been written about Small Circle Jujitsu and Professor Wally Jay

We have had the priviledge of knowing Professor Jay for quite some time now both as individuals and as a trinity.

We feel that Professor Jay, is one of the most knowledgable Martial Artists alive today and we have all gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and respect for both he and his Small Circle Theory of Jiu-jitsu and therefore heartily recommend this text as an authority on Jiu-jitsu.

One seldom has an opportunity to put into words his feelings about and knowledge of someone whom he highly admires and respects. When the opportunity presents itself, it becomes painfully obvious that words cannot properly express those feelings -- especially when it is a man of the stature of my long-time friend, Wally Jay.

In the years since I met Wally, I have watched with pride the ways in which he, through his own innovations, has evolved in his knowledge and skills - much as did Bruce Lee. Wally would have achieved the highest pinnacle of success in whatever he might have chosen to undertake -- it is fortunate for us that he chose the Martial Arts.

I have enjoyed the friendship and instruction of Professor Wally Jay for over 18 years.

During this time, I have come to learn from him the application of applied excellence in martial arts.

Professor Jay wrote the introduction to Bruce Lee's first book published in 1963, Gung Fu the Philosophical Art of Self Defense. Bruce was a frequent guest at Professor Jay's home for several years before Bruce and Jeet Kune Do became famous. During this period these two non-classical martial artists reinforced each other's belief that "what works" best should become the new criteria for martial arts ultimance.

Professor Jay's book on Small Circle advances the time whereby dedicated martial artists may come to know combative pragmatics at their most efficient.

The Canadian Jiu-jitsu Association was the first Organization outside of the United States to recognize the technical talents of Wally Jay ... this was almost 2 decades ago. (note: this quote was written in 1980)

During this period of time, I have known Wally Jay to be a man who is totally committed to his Art and know of no other person who has accomplished more for Jiu-jitsu.

He has a vast repertoire of techniques which he shares willingly and he has that rare ability of transmitting his knowledge to students and experts alike with enthusiasm yet always demonstrating humility and concern.

The many technical contributions he has made to the C.J.A. during his long association have cemented the bonds of friendship for all time.

Wally Jay .... friend, teacher, author and brother.
