Professor Jay and Professor Cahill Honored

Professor Wally Jay and Willy Cahill were honored recently with Martial Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards at a special ceremony in San Jose, CA.

The two distinguished martial arts professors were cited for their contributions to the martial arts world by the American Kenpo Karate Association. The ceremony was held November 13, 1999, at Lou's Village in San Jose.

The awards were presented by Sensei Chris Packham of the American Kenpo Karate Association following a banquet held in honor of Prof. Jay and Prof. Cahill. Each honoree was presented with a special certificate citing "his many years of dedication and outstanding contributions to the martial arts. His knowledge, teaching skills, and love for the martial arts have been instrumental in helping further the interest and prominence of martial arts worldwide. We honor and thank you for having paved the path and opening the doors for many."

Each certificate was signed by martial arts masters representing a variety of martial arts styles, including George Dillman, Mike Depasquale Jr., Dan Inosanto, Ernie Reyes, Joe Halbuna, Bob Maschmeier, Jesse Guel, Richard Willett, Ralph Castiellanos, Dave Eliale, and Janet Gee.

Sensei Packham, assisted by Sifu Janet Gee, coordinated the event, which was attended by more than 100 persons from the martial arts community.
